Rachael graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2001 with a 1st class (Hons) degree in theatre design.

ANGELE GALEA
Artistic Director
(Valletta 2009, Floriana 2009 & Edinburgh 2009)

Angele Galea is perhaps better known for her work on TV and stage as a presenter and actor. Others might also know her as a classical pianist, but Angele also enjoys dabbling in paint every now and then. Angele improved her technique and style under the tuition of Joseph Paul Cassar, Jessica Debattista, Isabelle Borg and Frans Galea and she has taken part in various programmes from painting for charity with Kerygma in 1991, to painting murals for government schools and public places.
In 1998, Angele did the ink drawings for the inaugural exhibition Art in Malta Today, the workbook for children. In 2002/03 she did comic strips for Tune In Magazine for Bay Radio and the official Bay Radio Calendar of 2003 turning each DJ into a cartoon character.
Angele Galea took part in various collective exhibitions such as Ecological Feelings (2000, Royal British Legion), Member Artists Exhibition (2002, National Museum of Fine Arts), Core Green (2008, Melita Gardens), Colours for Children (2008, Chamber of Commerce), Education and Culture (2008, European Union Programmes Agency) and this September her first solo exhibition Pin Ups, Playing Cards and Magazines (Ta’ Stringi). Her latest endevour was the shadow puppetry for the Manoel Theatre Pantomime 2008/09, with her own music composition creating the atmosphere as the velvety tones of Manuel Cauchi recounted the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Her style is quite varied and incorporates varied media and techniques. She inspires herself from the people she meets, the magazines and TV programs she comes across and, when all else fails, she resorts to our breathtaking landscape with its sparkling beauty especially at nighttime. |

MALCOLM GALEA
Director

Although primarily a playwright, Malcolm often directs his own plays the first time that they are produced. In the past he has directed The Play with the Silly Name, which won the awards for Best Director and Best Production at the 2003 edition of the MADC One Act Play Festival, the comic duologue Snubbed Actors Inc. (St James Cavalier), and the first three runs of Porn the Musical. He also directed Yazmina Reza’s Art (MITP). |

PHIL HEWITT
Lighting Designer (London 2010)

Phil has been working in theatre for more years than he hasn’t, with a special interest in new writing, having been an associate director of Theatre503, and technical director of a number of new writing companies. He designed the premiere productions of writers such as Dennis Kelly and Duncan MacMillan.
Recent designs include: Orwell: A Celebration (Trafalgar Studios), Oh Well Never Mind Bye (Union Theatre), Frida Kahlo: Vida la Vida (Oval House and Tour), Alice’s adventures in the New World (Old Red Lion), Decade (Theatre503).

ALLY HOLMES
Choreographer/Associate Director

Ally trained at Bretton Hall and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Associate director credits include: Medea and Jason and the Argonauts at The Scoop, London Bridge and Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi (workshop for Liverpool Playhouse). She also devised and directed her own adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew, Kiss Me, and a production of Godspell for First Kiss productions.
Choreography credits include: Jason and the Argonauts (The Scoop), Aladdin (Newbury Corn Exchange), Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi, Much Ado About Nothing (both for Liverpool Playhouse), Sleeping Beauty (Greenwich Theatre), Fing’s Aint What They Used To Be (King’s Head).
She also assisted Francesca Jaynes on Robin Hood and Sam Spencer-Lane on Jack and the Beanstalk (both at Theatre Clwyd) and co-choreographed Caucasian Chalk Circle and Cyclops (The Scoop) with Jack Gunn.

PAUL ROBINSON
Director (London 2010)

Paul is Joint Artistic Director of Olivier Award-winning Theatre503 for whom he has directed Salt Meets Wound, They Have Oak trees in North Carolina (Theatre503/Radio4), and The Lifesavers (Theatre503/Colchester/Mercury/TMA Nomination for Best New Play.
Other recent credits include the West End premiere of Athol Fugard’s Hello and Goodbye (ETT/Trafalgar Studios) and Breakfast with Mugabe (Bath Theatre Royal). He also directed Who Killed Mr Drum? (Riverside Studios) and World’s End (Pleasance).
Having graduated from The Bristol Old Vic theatre School, he received the Arts Council Bursary at the Manchester Royal Exchange for whom he directed Isolated Children in Far Away Places and Bus Stop. He was further selected to attend the National Theatre Studio’s Director’s Course. He was then Staff Director on five consecutive shows at the National theatre, including Falstaff and Duck Variations.
He is a fervent advocate of new writing as the lifeblood of the theatre and has develop new plays at many of the country’s leading theatres.
